Heisman Update: Week 10

November 13, 2009

CFBuzz: This is what we think the Heisman race looks like.

Colt McCoy: Quarterback Texas

McCoy and the Longhorns won again this week with the help of a huge game from McCoy. He is still the front runner and my pick to win the Heisman.

Mark Ingram: Runningback Alabama

Alabama was able to beat LSU this past week with good play from Ingram. If Alabama runs the table and Ingram ha a big game against Florida in the SEC title game he may be able to give McCoy a run for his money.

Tim Tebow: Quarterback Florida

Tim Tebow, in my opinion, will need some serious help to win the Heisman; but he still his a great player and an even better leader.

Jimmy Clausen: Quarterback Notre Dame

Jimmy Clausen will have his best shot to put himself in serious Heisman talks with a game against Pittsburgh this weekend. He has the numbers, but Notre Dame poor play overall keeps him out of serious talks.

Jordan Shipley: Wide Receiver Texas

Shipley had the best game of his college career this past weekend, and solitified himself as the top wide out in the country. He most likely won’t win the Heisman, or even get many votes but his play must be noted.

Week Ten Picks

November 7, 2009

CFBuzz: Here are our picks for week ten.

Ohio State vs. Penn State

The Nittany Lions are looking to stay in contention for a BCS bid, while the Buckeyes will look to play spoiler the rest of the way. In this one I like the Buckeyes to win on the road, behind solid play from Terrelle Pryor.

Georgia Tech vs. Wake Forest

Georgia Tech is quietly the best team in the ACC and ranked in the top 15. However, they will be tested on tge road today as the travel to Wake. I think this one is close, but Georgia Tech wins late.

UCONN vs. Cincinnati

The Saturday night game of the week features a key Big East match-up. I like the Cincinnati to win this one easily though, even if Tony Pike doesn’t play all game.

USC vs. Arizona State

The Trojans got embarassed last weekend up in Eugene Oregon. I think Pete Carroll recognizes that this is a must win, and I think they get the job done winning big.

LSU vs. Alabama

The best game in college football this weekend has big implications for both teams. The LSU Tigers are looking to shake up the BCS standing as well as give themselves a shot in the SEC West. As for the Crimson Tide they are looking to clinch a spot in the SEC title game, where they will most likely play Florida. As for the game, I like LSU to pull off the upset.

Heisman Update: Week 9

November 6, 2009

CFBBuzz: This is our Heisman update after week nine. We apologize for the late posting.

Colt McCoy: Quarterback Texas

McCoy and the Longhorns beat up on Oklahoma State this past week, giving McCoy a little momentum in the Heisman race.

Mark Ingram: Runningback Alabama

The Crimson Tide err off this week, but a big game against LSU this weekend is the best stage for Ingram to state his claim for the Heisman

Tim Tebow: Quarterback Florida

The Gators and Tebow looked a lot better this past week then they have the previous two weeks. However, if Tebow wants his second Heisman he is going to have to step it up down the stretch.

Jimmy Clausen: Quarterback Notre Dame

Jimmy Clausen has played exceptionally well this season, and probabaly deserves some Heisman votes. However, he’ll need to kick it into overdrive the rest rest of the year to have a legitimate shot at the Title.

Jeramiah Masoli: Quarterback Oregon

Last week the Ducks beat up on the Southern Cal Trojans at home, behind a Heisman like preformance from Masoli. This kid has it all; he can beat with feet or his arm and that is the reason why Oregon is so hot right now.

Week Nine Picks

October 31, 2009

CFBBuzz: Here are our week nine picks.

Texas vs. Oklahoma State

The Longhorns need to win this game to have a shot at the BCS title game, which means Colt McCoy will put it upon himself to win this football game. Oklahoma State’s only shot at winnig this game is if they can score with Texas because, their defense isn’t the best. In the end I like Texas by two touchdowns.

Georgia vs. Florida

Florida and Tim Tebow have really been struggling lately, almost losing the past two weeks. I think that Tebow will be better, but I’m not sure it will be good enough. I like Georgia to pull off the upset.

USC vs. Oregon

I really like the chances at an upset in this one, just because it’s in Oregon. However, if Oregon wants to win this game they are going to have to control the clock and limit USC’s big play opportunities. All in all I like Oregon to win this one in a moderatly low scoring affair.

Kansas vs. Texas Tech

This should be a pretty good game, mainly becaue both of these teams can score in bunches. Mike Leach, the head coach of Texas Tech, said last week that his players need to be more focused. I think that happens here as Texas Texas pulls off the upset at home.

California vs. Arizona State

The Golden Bears are looking to win the rest of their games and I think that could happen because they have already played, Oregon and USC. However, they will have a difficult game this week because Arizona State is looking for a couple of marquee wins to get themselves bowl eligible. In the end I think this one comes down to the fourth quarter where Cal and Jahvid Best take over and win the game.

Heisman Update: Week 8

October 25, 2009

Colt McCoy: Quarterback Texas

McCoy had his est game of the season this week against Missouri throwing for 269 yards and three TDs. The Longhorns have a big game next week against Oklahoma State where McCoy should play well again.

Tim Tebow: Quarterback Florida

Tebow didn’t look great for a second week in a row against Mississippi State. He threw two picks and only 127 yards.

Mark Ingram: Running Back Alabama

A newcomer to our Heisman list. A lot of critics think that he has a solid shot at winning the Heisman, but I don’t see it. On the year he has rushed for 1001 yards and eight touchdowns.

Jimmy Clausen: Quarterback Notre Dame

This weekend against a solid Boston College defense Clausen threw for 246 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions.

Case Keenum: Quarterback Houston

The numbers are definetly there for Case Keenum; on the year he has thrown for 2734 yards, 20 touchdowns and only four picks. I don’t think he realisticly has a shot at winning the Heisman, but he deserves respect.

Week Eight Picks

October 24, 2009

CFBBuzz: These are our picks for week eight.

South Florida vs. Pittsburgh

South Florida will be looking be bounce back after their loss to Cincinnati. I think that Pittsburgh and their talented freshman running will be able to play with the Bulls, but South Florida wins late.

Boston College vs. Notre Dame

I like the chances at an upset here if the BC quarterbacks are able to play well. The Eagles have shod enough defense to be able to contain Jimmy Clausen, which allows them to take some chances on offense. All in all I like the Eagles to pull off the upset.

Clemson vs. Miami

Miami will look to keep pace in the ACC with a win over Clemson. Tge Tigers are a dangerous team though because of their ability to score with teams. This being said I like Clemson to pull off the upset.

Texas vs. Missouri

I think Colt McCoy will be ready in this own and really gain momentum in the Heisman race. This being said I like Texas’s chances at winning this one.

TCU vs. BYU

This should be a really good game because both teams can score in bunches. I like BYU to win the game though because of the home field advantage.
